She dropped into the playback bracket where she won her playback semi to advance to the third-place match where she lost to Heidi Iverson of Vail Christian, 6-1, 6-2 and finished fourth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nathaniel Chou, Thompson Valley diving:<\/strong> The Eagles sophomore finished fifth at the Class 4A state competition Friday at the Arvada Aquatics Center in Arvada.<\/p>\n<p>Chou was fifth after the prelims with a score of 237.30 and remained in fifth after the semifinals with a score of 358.70. He finished the 11-dive competition with a personal-best score of 493.35, 56 points higher than his previous personal best of 437.45.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ashton Daly, Loveland track and field:<\/strong> The Red Wolves junior set a new school record in the shot put with a first-place finish Saturday at the Hoka St. Vrain Invitational in Longmont.<\/p>\n<p>Daly tossed the shot put 59 feet, 3 inches, two and a half feet further than the second-place finisher, Issac Baca of Grand Junction. It is the top throw in Class 5A this season and second in the state. Daly will take the top marks in 5A in both the shot put and the discus (174-4) into this weekend&#8217;s state meet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cooper Christensen, Thompson Valley swimming:<\/strong> The Eagles sophomore finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Class 4A state championships Saturday at the Arvada Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n<p>Christensen entered the meet seeded 17th with an entry time of 1 minute, 1.88 seconds. He qualified ninth in the preliminaries Friday by dropping more than a second off his time in 1:00.58. Senior Kane Willis was sixth in the 100 backstroke (53.80) and Nathan Dicks was eighth in the 50 freestyle (22.11) and 10th in the 100 freestyle (49.58). Mountain View was third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:27.95), fourth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:15.07) and fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:37.16).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loveland Classical girls soccer:<\/strong> The Lions won their Class 2A second-round playoff game Saturday against Salida at LCS and advanced to the quarterfinals for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n<p>LCS took an early 2-0 lead and led Salida 2-1 at halftime before scoring the only goal of the second half for a 3-1 victory. The defending state champion and No. 7 seed Lions will now travel to No. 2 Forge Christian for their quarterfinal game Wednesday. LCS defeated Forge Christian 2-1 in the semifinals last season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mountain View boys volleyball:<\/strong> The Mountain Lions went 2-2 and finished fourth in their first-ever appearance at the Class 4A state tournament Thursday-Friday at Fountain-Fort Carson&#8217;s Trojan Arena.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 3 seed Mountain Lions opened the tournament with a 3-0 victory over No. 6 Colorado Springs Christian on Thursday. Mountain View began Friday&#8217;s action by losing in three sets to No. 7 and eventual state champion Lutheran. Later Friday, they avoided elimination with a win over league rival Stargate School before being eliminated Saturday in a four-set loss to No. 2 Regis Groff, finishing the season with a program-best record of 23-5.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Berthoud girls soccer:<\/strong> The Spartans won their first-ever postseason game Thursday with a 2-1 overtime victory over Manitou Springs in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs at Max Marr Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Brynlee Mears scored Berthoud&#8217;s second-half goal that tied the game at 1-1 and then freshman Mika Okiyama scored the game-winner in overtime. The Spartans lost to Colorado Academy 7-0 in the second round Saturday and finished the season with a program-best 10-6-1 record.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Loveland girls track and field:<\/strong> The Red Wolves had a strong showing at a pair of meets over the weekend as they competed at the Hoka St. Vrain Invitational in Longmont on Friday and the Teddy&#8217;s Last Chance Qualifier at Roosevelt High School on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>In Longmont, sophomore Ava Wankelman won the pole vault, clearing 12-0. Senior Sydney Brantley was fifth in the 800 in a personal-best time of 2:16:14 while freshman Brynn Torres was 11th in the 1,600 in a personal-best time of 5:01.41. At Roosevelt, Wankelman again won the pole vault, clearing 10-10. Teammate Adley Knop was third, clearing 10-1.
